YOUR FIRST YEAR AT UT TYLER

Students who attend UT Tyler to fulfill their CAP requirements to transfer to UT Austin will have to attend UT Tyler for summer, fall and spring. Below is the required course taking pattern for a UT CAP student at UT Tyler. Please note, UT CAP students at UT Tyler must start in the second summer 5-week term (July 5 – Aug 6). All courses will be either face-to-face, online, or hybrid for the summer.

Enrollment Requirements

CAP students at UT Tyler will have the following enrollment requirements: Summer semester: students will take 6 hours (2 courses) this term. Fall semester: students will take 9 to 11 hours (3 courses) this term. Spring semester: students will take a minimum 15 hours (5 courses) this term.

Scholarships

If you attend UT Tyler through CAP, you are not eligible to be considered for scholarships.

Housing

Students who have completed fewer than 60 credit hours at any junior college or university are required to live on campus at UT Tyler. This requirement will be waived only for Summer 2022, and only for students enrolled entirely in on-line classes.

CAP students attending UT Tyler—like all other students in Texas—must complete the Texas Success Initiative requirement.

Application processing fee

If you select UT Tyler when completing your online CAP agreement, you’ll be required to pay a $60 application processing fee to UT Tyler by June 1.
