Participating Universities

The deadline to apply for academic and need-based general scholarships is January 15, so CAP students who did not apply directly to UTSA will be ineligible. UTSA colleges and departments, however, administer their own scholarship programs and therefore have separate applications with varying deadlines. Check with the college or department to determine which scholarships you may be eligible for and to obtain an application.

In order to submit a housing application and access other secure online services on UTSA’s website, you’ll need to know your UTSA student ID number (also called your myUTSA ID). This number is different than your UT EID. If you select UTSA on your online CAP agreement, you’ll receive an email from UTSA that acknowledges the university has received your application information from UT Austin and entered your information into the UTSA computer system. This process can take up to a few weeks. The email will include your UTSA student identification number or myUTSA ID. This number will also be posted in the upper right-hand corner of the CAP acceptance letter that you receive from UTSA. The ID begins with three letters followed by three numbers. You will create your own passphrase.

Visit University Housing University Housing online for information and to access the housing application for Alvarez Hall, Chaparral Village, Chisholm Hall, Guadalupe Hall, Laurel Village, and University Oaks Apartments. UTSA Housing and Residence Life operates Alvarez Hall, Chaparral Village, Chisholm Hall, Guadalupe Hall and Laurel Village. The application for summer 2022 will be available in the spring semester. The application for 2022-23 academic year is open and available now. Summer and Academic Year Contracts will be offered in the spring semester. University Oaks is owned and operated by Campus Living Villages (CLV), a private third-party company that is a separate legal entity from UTSA. CLV is a lessee of UTSA pursuant to a certain ground lease. While located on the UTSA campus grounds, University Oaks operates under different contractual instruments and provides for different lease agreements than those of residential housing owned and operated by UTSA. As with any legal document, prospective residents are highly encouraged to carefully review and consider the specific obligations and terms of any lease agreement.  Please note that UTSA assumes no liability or other responsibility of any kind with respect to any such CLV lease agreements. All lease obligations remain the responsibility of the tenant and not UTSA, regardless of whether an academic term is delayed, interrupted, and/or delivered totally or partially online. University Oaks is currently leasing for 2022-23.

Roommates

Alvarez Hall, Chaparral Village, Chisholm Hall, Guadalupe Hall and Laurel Village allow all students the opportunity to request roommates through the online application process. Roommate pairings are utilized during the assignment process. However, UTSA Housing and Residence Life cannot guarantee roommate pairings. University Oaks uses their online system to do roommate matching. You may match yourself with CAP students through these systems, but it is not mandatory.

Assignments

Assignments are completed on a first-come, first-served basis according to when your housing application process is completed. In your UTSA Housing application, you will submit room assignment preferences. UTSA Housing and Residence Life will utilize your preferences to complete your housing assignment. Please note your lease does not guarantee an assignment in a particular community or room type. Room assignments are subject to change.

Once a student is deemed exempt from the math portion of the TSI or has otherwise met the TSI requirements to be complete, there may be additional mastery measures that must be completed and passed in order to register in Precalculus, Calculus and General Chemistry.  TSI met students can automatically register for Algebra level courses.

CAP students attending UTSA will be required to work in and obtain mastery in content modules in the ALEKS math system if planning to major in fields which require Precalculus or Calculus. Some students may have AP Calculus scores of 3 or higher and or Dual credit for Precalculus and thereby be able to use that work to fulfill the prerequisite. ALEKS math module mastery information as well as AP information is available at: testing.utsa.edu.

Similarly, CAP students seeking to enroll in CHE 1103 will be required to qualify to do so by satisfying a prerequisite first either with qualifying AP Chemistry scores, dual credit in Chemistry or a 70% or higher on the ALEKS modules. Students access the ALEKS modules through ASAP--> Student Services tab--> Testing Services Registration --> ALEKS. On average, it will take most students 22 hours of study and practice in the ALEKS modules to achieve mastery required for registration. ALEKS results are not immediately transmitted from the ALEKS system into the student, Banner system for registration use but available in 48 hours therefore work ahead of any registration or Orientation date. ALEKS is not a test, rather it is a series of modules that must be completed with demonstrated mastery after taking an initial leveling assessment. CAP participants will meet with their UTSA advisors during an individual appointment as part of their Orientation. Please sign up for Orientation at your earliest opportunity to begin this process, to initiate your being assigned to an academic advisor.

To be better prepared for your advising appointment, please note only courses from the Approved List will be recommended to be taken as follows: Summer – 6 hours, Fall – 9 hours, and Spring – 15 hours.
Your academic advisor is here to help you successfully transition to UT Austin by following their recommendations for approved UTSA courses. All major specific questions for UT Austin degree plans can only be confirmed when you contact the appropriate UT Austin academic departments/colleges.

After you submit your online CAP agreement, UT Austin will forward your information to UTSA. Once UTSA receives your information, we will communicate with you via email using the address you provided on your ApplyTexas application. The email will include information concerning your myUTSA ID. It will provide you access to your ASAP account, which will then allow you to pay your application processing fee online using a credit card. Please allow ample time for the information to be loaded into our system and for the email to be sent. (This can take 5-7 business days from the date you submit your CAP agreement to UT Austin.) UTSA will accept the application fee payment until May 1.
